Since thursday I have been experiencing pain in my lower right adominal region next to and along my hip bone. The pain is not consistent..sometimes it doesnt hurt, other times it is dull, and then there are times it is a sharper pain. The pain also seems to "travel" on occasion along my right side up to under my rib cage. I have had a cold and ear infection (which is being treated for antibiotics). I am sexually active and am due for my period in a couple days but these pains are not typical of my menstrual cramps. A few days before the pain began (i think tuesday) there was some blood (bright red) when i had a bowel movement and have only had one bowel movement since then (it was fine) (Sorry for the details). I also have a loss of appetite and am not eating as much as I usually do. I was just wondering if this could be appendicitis i know the pain is usually very sharp and intense. Today the pain has been mostly on my right side under my rib cage and is pretty consistent.
When pushing around the area of the pain I found it to hurt more when i pushed on my back.
Sorry that might not have made sense…I started pushing on the area right below my ribs and then moved front and back and found that the pain seemed to be in my back.

Your pain doesn't sound typical of appendicitis, but you have listed a few "red flags" which lead me to believe that you should probably see a doctor. Symptoms that you have described could point to a problem with any number of abdominal organs, including but not limited to your appendix, your uterus, your ovaries, your colon, your small intestine, your liver, your gallbladder, or your pancreas. The pain could also be atypical menstrual pain.
The problem could very well be something as simple as constipation, but you should definitely get checked out. You don't want to be calling 911 at some point because the pain is unbearable.
