Ask Nurse Online About Horse Arthritis

January 4, 2009

Question: I think that my horse has arthritis in her back. What can I do to help ease the pain. Is there any rubs or anthing else I can do? Is it still okay to ride her?

Answer: Check with a vet to make sure that it is indeed arthritis the next time that you have him or her out. Glucosamine/Chondroitin is an excellent supplement that has helped many of the horses that I know including one of my own. You should also look into having a chiropractor come out and take a look at your horse. It will run you anywhere between 40 and 100 dollars but is well worth the money if you can afford it. Good luck.
