Back Surgery and Leg Pain/Numbness?

by admin

I had to have back surgery five weeks ago (L4/L5) due to a herniated disk which was causing both of my legs to feel like they were asleep. I couldn't walk without the support from the walls or another person. When I awoke from surgery, still had the numbness/tingling in both my legs. Well I'm getting more feeling back in my legs but now I am noticing some leg pain in my left leg which was not there before the surgery.

Also, I am having trouble in my left leg with flexing the muscle in my calf and not being able to raise up on my toes (again, in the left foot).

What I am wondering is if anyone else has had a similar experience and also if the use of those muscles has come back.

I am going to see my surgeon next week and of course will be telling him all this, but I am just looking for something to tide me over until next week. Thanks!

You may need to get in sooner. There could be a problem with the nerves in that area or there is a possibility of a blood clot starting to form in the leg. I dont mean to scare you but this is something serious that needs attention sooner than next week.
