Bleeding Rare Complication of Epidural Injection

by admin

Question: I am currently receiving epidural injections for a herniated disc -- which they told me it may affect my menstrual cycle. It has -- I bleed in the morning as if I am starting my period then stop during the day and begin the next day -- My cramps are mild but when I urinate I have fleshy pieces of blood. I do not cramp too much but it is aggravating. Any thoughts?

Answer:

Bleeding is a rare complication of epidural injection and is more common for patients with underlying bleeding disorders.

Observe for the frequency or occurrence  such as how often, duration of bleeding such as how long the bleeding exist and amount of bleeding by how many pads you used. Now, the emergency issue here is the bleeding that needs immediate medical attention. Once the occurrence is often then go to emergency room for treatment.
