Question: I'm 33 weeks pregnant and lately I've been going back and forth to the bathroom having bowel movements with hardly eating anything. My appetite, instead of increasing, has decreased dramatically. I dont know if this calls for concern, but i just wanted to know if this is normal or any other mother ever experienced this. I just don't like to run to the doctor every time i have a question. So, I like to ask the nurse expert. Thanks in advance!

Answer: Normally, loss of appetite occurs towards the end when you are getting ready to deliver. But honestly it could be anything. It could be because of your big tummy, the rectum and anus are triggered to poop more. If your feeling and condition become worse, it's best for you and the baby to go to the doctor.

Question: What could be the reason for bowel bladder pressure, nausea, loss of appétite, and mixed up period? I am a 29 yr old female with 2 children. I had easy pregnancies and deliveries. My youngest is almost 3. This has been going on for about 6 weeks. I constantly feel like I have to use the bathroom. I sometimes feel like a full bladder and when I go nothing or very little comes out. Other times I feel like I have to have a bowel movement and nothing or little happens. Loss of appetite and nausea for about 10 days - 2 weeks. My periods have been messed up for 9 months for the first 6 months I had one every 2 weeks. Now it is every 3 weeks. Been to my doctor many times many tests have been run and no answers. I even had an ultra sound and sonogram right before x-mas

Answer: The bowel and bladder could be happening from the pregnancies. Having a baby inside you causing pressure on your organs and since the baby sits on the bowel and bladder, it can cause the muscles to lose some of their elasticity.

As these try to heal and return to normal, this can happen. But since your last baby was born 3 years ago, that seems like a very long time for this to just be starting. Have they done an ultrasound to check your uterus to make sure it's not distended or rotated?

Have some questions? Ask the nurse expert!
