<p>Multiple Sclerosis- is the most common cause of progressive neurologic disability in young adults.</p>
<p>Multiple Sclerosis is a disorder characterized by multifocal areas of demyelination diffusely scattered throughout the central nervous system, presenting with a history of remissions and exacerbation.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Normal Conduction Image:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="size-medium wp-image-11569 aligncenter" style="border: 0pt none;" title="multiplesclerosis" src="http://askthenurseexpert.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/multiplesclerosis-300x142.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="142" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Abnormal Conduction:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="size-medium wp-image-11570 aligncenter" style="border: 0pt none;" title="multiplesclerosis-abnormalconduction" src="http://askthenurseexpert.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/multiplesclerosis-abnormalconduction-300x136.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="136" /></p>
<p>Women are most affected with Multiple Sclerosis almost twice as men, and the usual age of onset is between 20 and 40 years old.  The incidence of multiple sclerosis is highest in cool and temperate climates. There is a familial tendency, which may be due to common environmental factors as well as to hereditary factors.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The precise cause or causes of Multiple Sclerosis remain unknown. As with many other neurologic diseases, a viral infection is frequently implicated as being a contributing factor to Multiple Sclerosis. An autoimmune reaction is responsible for destroying the myelin.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Several precipitating factors have been identified with Multiple Sclerosis such as infection, trauma, and pregnancy.</p>
