Epidural Side Effect or Nerve Damage?

by admin

I delivered my son on dec 20th, 2008 and for the past month ive been experiencing numbness in my feet (like after i sit at the comp for a while) and i often have numbness in my left big toe...

is this a everlasting side effect of an epidural or could i possibly have damaged a nerve?

It depends. I had an epidural with all of my births (three). I have had back pain ever since and have other people tell me the same. I have since my last daughter experienced some weird feelings in my legs from time to time however I never connected the two of them. Your best bet would be to talk to your OB/GYN when you go in for your follow up. There is a risk of nerve/spinal damage but it is minimal and would have been noticed almost immediately I believe. You can always google epidurals and find out all the risk factors and side effects.

Occasionally carpal tunnel surgery is the sole answer. The more info you have about the reasons for your agony and methods to help carpal tunnel syndrome, the better your odds of a good recovery.
