I basically wanted to echo what Chris is saying. I'm 57 and I was diagnosed a little over six years ago. First year? Total denial. Second through fourth years? Learning all I could about diet and exercise in order to control the disease w/o drugs. Fifth and this year? I'm off the drugs and feel like I did twenty years ago. I'm more than a "mild" health nut, though. I'm an avid health nut. The moral of the story? A little prevention now, can save you a ton of grief later. The sooner you become a health nut, the better your chances of avoiding the disease. It's a remarkably simple formula. Stay away from manufactured, processed, refined, preserved junk carbs and stick mainly to natural fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and nuts. Get a moderate amount of daily exercise, and stay as healthy as possible. It really works.
