How Do You Help Loved One Understand and Accept That You Have Epilepsy?

by admin

Hi All,

I really need some help ! I had a seizure yesterday morning. I have drop attacks and absence seizures. I slipped down the stairs. I don't even remember going down the stairs. I scared the !@#$ out of husband. He does not seem to want to accept that I really do have seizures. I am very angry and hurt by this. I was diagnosed over 14 years ago right after we were married.
Any suggestions?

Shaken, bruised and hurt!

Some people can't face the fact that a loved one of thiers which led a perfect life can have a disability hit them. I was hit with epilepsy when I was 22, my dad could'nt face it . I had the operation and am siezure free now,but he acted like I never had a problem and still thinks I don't. It's a hard thing to live with,I can see what you are going thru. I suggest you ask your husband a question like I asked my father. I asked him this….If you were in my shoes and I treated you this way ,how would you feel ?
