Is It Safe to Give a Dog Benadryl to Treat Allergies?

by admin

My dog has severe itching due to allergies and it gets so expensive to go to the vet every month and get a 0 cortisone shot. I would like to look into some home remedies that might provide relief for my 7 1/2 year old Yorkie. Does anyone know if Benadryl is safe for dogs and if it works (what would be the correct dosage be)? Any ideas would be much appreciated...thank you :)
I am currently feeding him Addiction brand kangeroo and apples dog food.

It is safe and I have given it to my Lab for her allergies, but you need to check with the vet about the correct dosage, and you need to use children's Benadryl, not adults.
Have you tried antihistamines, I get these form the vet, not very expensive and they do work better than Benadryl.
