I've been on Lamictal on and off for three years to control epilepsy. When I was on it the first time, life was good and my seizures were controlled. I experienced little to no negative symptoms, and I was highly pleased with the meds. After I went off (after one year, doctors told me my EEG was normal) I didn't feel that much different. I had a seizure 6 months later, and got put back on Lamictal, and now the side effects are driving me nuts. I am exhausted ALL time time. I can't remember the last time when I said I was not tired. I get anywhere from 7 to 10 hours of sleep a night, and it's completely uninteruppted. I also feel dumber (if that makes sense). Reading is a lot harder, and sometimes I forget stupid things like how to subtract. Is this normal? Is there anything that I can do myself to make this better? Or should I suck it up and go to the doctor? If so, what other meds have the least amount of side effects?

Suck it up and go to the doctor. You should have your blood checked and the doc should try a different dose or different medication. No need to go through life feeling like a zombie.
