Is There a Link Between Marijuana Use and Lung Cancer?

by admin

The link between cigarette smoking and lung cancer is so clear. Is the same true for marijuana? It seems the way it is smoked (held in the lungs for as long as possible) would make it more carcinogenic that cigarette smoke. Any data on this?

you can find data supporting either argument – that marijuana doesnt cause lung damage and that marijuana does cause lung damage. its important to see who is publishing the data. if you are reading something from the american medical association, who has performed studies and tests, then i would believe it. if you are reading something published by the marijuana society of america that states that marijuana does NOT cause any lung problems, i would probably question it.

personally, i think ANYTHING you inhale can cause lung damage. it is proven that things like second hand smoke, pollution, inhaled chemicals can all cause lung cancer and lung disease. so why not marijuana too? it is a foreign substance to the body that is inhaled directly into the lungs, and i am sure it has some kind of chemical or oil in the plant itself that enters and coats the lungs. but that is my personal opinion – im sure you could find data on this on the web, just be careful of who is publishing the information and what their opinion is because the data they publish may be self serving.
