No. A cataract is basically the clouding of the crystalline lens inside your eye. It happens to just about everybody if they live long enough. The surgery isn't too painful and is a very common procedure. It is not a laser surgery. The surgeon will go under your cornea and use a vacuum-like tool to suck the lens out. Once the lens has been removed, a new plastic lens will be inserted (this will eliminate the need for really thick glasses and may even correct any distance prescription you have). You'll still need reading glasses (if you need them now). Cataracts will not dissolve or go away on their own. The only remedy is surgery. Talk to your eye doctor about it. He/she can recommend a good surgeon and help you through the process.
