Lionhead Rabbit Ill – Eyes and Head Moving Sort of Like a Fit?

by admin

My Rabbit's eyes are moving rapidly right to left, so is her head and she also runs in circles - all to the left.

This has been happening the last few days on and off for around 45 min intervals. When she snaps out of it she looks normal and is eating and drinking happily.

She is a black lionhead rabbit about 8months old and lives with 2 guinea pigs.

I took her to the vet who was just said it could have epilepsy - he did not do any tests - she was acting normal at the time. No treatment was given.

What could it be?

It could in fact be epilepsy, lionhead rabbits are known for it. If you are not certain I would suggest taking her back to the vet, or finding another rabbit-savvy vet that can take a better look at her. If it turns out to be epilepsy, and you got her from a breeder, it's best to let them know. Responsible breeders are always trying to breed so that their offspring are free of any problems.
