Maybe Twins?

by admin

I am 28 weeks and my doctor says the baby should only weigh 2 pounds but he is about 4 1/2, and I am quite skinny, I weigh right now 132 pounds so I don't think the baby is just huge.. Also when I feel him kicking me on the lower right side of my abdomen I also feel a movement on the upper left side right after the kick that does not feel like a kick but maybe the head being pushed? Any ideas?

Have you had any ultrasounds done??? At what point? They should have been able to see two fetuses or detect two heartbeats by now. And how did your doctor determine weight? If that was through ultrasound, then it was purely by your baby's measurements, such as his head circumference, abdominal circumference, and femur length, not the weight of your uterine contents or anything like that. And that is just an estimate and has been known to be off by almost 2 pounds. I can't think of any other way he would weigh the fetus. And your baby is so large now that it's normal to feel movements in MANY places. Trust me, my son can kick my bladder, punch my ribs, and poke my side with his booty all at the same time. I wouldn't worry about twins. Your fundal height, ultrasound, and hearbeat are the only ways to tell if you're having twins, and if all of those are normal, chances are it's just one baby. But I know it sure can feel like two!
