Possible False Negative With an IUD?

by admin

I know that this has been asked before, however I still have concerns. I have a Mirena IUD for birth control and have been lucky with not getting pregnant and started missing my periods IMMEDIATELY. So when I didn't get my period, it was no big deal at all. However, over the past 5 1/2 months, I've been having pregnancy symptoms, not my usual PMS symptoms. I've also been feeling movement in my abdomen that feels nothing like gas. It feels like a baby moving (and I would know that feeling since I've had two babies already). I'm exceedingly concerned and wondering if there's any way I've been getting false negatives on pregnancy tests. Has anyone else had this issue? Please help me out!

If you are pregnant, you should definitely see your doctor ASAP. However, IUD's are extremely effective birth control methods. The Mirena is 99.9% effective. The chance is rare. However, if you think you are, the Mirena could harm the baby so get to your doctor immediately. Have you taken any pregnancy tests? They would be positive if you were pregnant.
