PPA for Dog Bladder Problems… Help!?

by admin

Ok, so i've decided my dog has her sphincter control problem again. I'm just nervous that my poor girl will be on it for the rest of her life. She has some PPA left from her first round... she stopped so the vet took her off it. we all want our dogs to be healthy and normal, but have a few questions for anyone who has experience or is a vet tech?
She is a lab, i saw another forum talking about this and the majority of the people had labs... are labs more prone to this problem?
How can you tell the difference between spay incontinence and the sphincter control problem?
Will she really have to be on this for the rest of her life?
Someone mentioned that long term use can cause stroke... is this true?
Gen info would be great. I'm gonna take her to the vet next week to talk more (she needs a DPP shot because she'll be starting her doggy day care soon).
I forgot... she's only one year old
and... she gets severe decreased appetite from it. like only eats every other day. this is stressing me out so much!

PPA is the ingredient in Dexatrim, so it will suppress her appetite. Some people will try modifying the diet, and removing potential irritants like corn or wheat from the diet. Flax seems to be an irritant for a lot of dogs.

She should adjust to the PPA, but I'd consider a holistic vet if it were my dog.
