This week I started having small amounts of anal bleeding. I've also been a tad bit constipated and I always have the bleeding after this. I think it may be from a cut near that area because it kind of hurts after a bowel movement.
What could it be and how do I stop it?

If you've been constipated you likely have what they call an anal fissure. An anal fissure is a small tear that appears around the anus and can be caused by constipation, hard bowel movements, repeated bowel movements (such as is the case with IBS), and similar things. Anal fissures can be extremely painful. For quick relief, get yourself some Preparation H Cooling Gel, it will be the most helpful. Other things that can help are Maximum Strength Vagisil Cream and Lidocaine Ointment (the Lidocaine is only available by prescription).
The best way to treat anal fissures is to prevent them from occurring in the first place. Make sure that you eat plenty of fiber on a daily basis, supplement your diet with Metamucil Capsules or Wafers to make sure that your stools say loose. Eat plenty of whole grain cereals, things like granola bars, and bread. Avoid dairy products and caffeine which can irritate you and constipate you. Before you have a bowel movement, coat your anus with Vaseline, it will help prevent anal fissures from forming. Also, you can put Vaseline on afterwards to get rid of the soreness.
If your minor bleeding develops into sore, throbbing pain, then it's likely you have hemmerhoids. If that's the case, get yourself some Preparation H cream as well as Preparation H Suppositories, and use some Preparation H Cooling Gel on the outside.
