What Are Commonly Expected Side Effects of an Epidural and How Long Should They Be Expected to Last?

by admin

my back is killing me...lol
its not my spine though...more the sides of my back, i'm not sure whether this is residual side effects of the epi or if i just pushed myself too hard yesterday because i def. did do too much yesterday.
how long should NORMAL back pain last after having a baby and getting an epidural (i'm not meaning chronic side effects, just normal pain you experience after having a baby and a huge needle in your spine) lol
also, yesterday my tongue was halfway numb for a couple hours...is this a probleM?

Well I don't know about the tongue thing, so I won't comment on it, but as far as your back… sounds like what you're feeling is normal, especially if you exerted yourself yesterday!
I had pain in my back from the epi for about 2 weeks afterwards I believe. After that had gone, I still had massive pain in my back when I laid down and could only sleep on my sides, not my stomach. I did research on it, and saw that it's normal because your abdominal wall is shot after having a baby. It cleared immensely once I started doing crunches and building my abs back up (granted I didn't start til 6 months post partum).
