What Are the Symptons of Lung Cancer?

Are there any 'home checks' which can be done to try to ascertain the presence of lung cancer, what are the obvious symptons and more obscure symptons? How does someone feel in the very early stages? What can we look for?

Obviously shortness of breath. You can also look at the finger nails, which appear to be 'blown'.
