What Is the Criteria for an Sen Statement in Wales?

by admin

I have a son aged 11 who has a cist on his brain and has a shunt which has caused epilepsy. He is medicated but has regular fits and misses time off school. He has an average ability academically but is he entitled to support due to absence. He can also be quite naughty at times but we are not sure whether this is linked to his medication.

As far as I am aware Wales has the same rules as England – In which case your son will be entitled to SEN support. Children can be classed as SEN if they have a disability which means they find it harder to learn than other children of their age. This is a really good website for Wales which should provide you with some information – you can also phone them for advice and support.
