Since like June or July of last year, I have been having thinner bowel movements. Sometimes they come out thin, like pink size, and they are in pieces, like loose stools. I saw a nurse practitioner in Sept. of last year, and she said to increase my fiber intake and try some Miralax. So I did and they seemed to get a little bit bigger. The Miralax made them normal sized and they were really long. Now within the past month they are loose and small again. I saw her again a week and a half ago and she said to increase my fiber again. So I have been and they come out small and loose still. On Friday I had diarrhea, but I'm not sure if that was because I had eaten greasy food. But since then, I haven't had many bowel movements, just a couple small pieces. Yesterday there was a little bit of yellowish-clear mucus that came out of my rectum. This morning I tried to have a bowel movement and nothing was coming out so I pushed, and then I wiped and there was some stool on the toilet paper that was a mushy, like baby poop. Then at times I have discomfort on my left side of my abdomen by my hip, but it doesn't hurt if I push down on it, I can just feel some discomfort. At times I have discomfort on the right side to by my hip. But it comes and goes.
Why are my bowel movements like this?
No, I haven't taken Miralax in about 2 months.
I don't take any medications either.

I think you may need to see a gastroenterologist about this – The "pain on one side" sounds like an IBS symptom.
But are you still taking Miralax – if so, then that's what's causing it; if not, please don't start taking it again.
