My father will be going for an eye surgery to remove a piece of cloudy thing that's blocking his sights, it's what most old folks will have during their 50s-70s. Anyone know what is it? Anyway, my questions is what should we do or not do before n after the surgery? Anything that he should prevent from eating? I really need to know. Thank you.

It is a cataract. I just had the surgery in November and I'm only 48.
Your dad should get instructions from the medical center before he goes in. They'll be similar to these:
No eating or drinking anything after midnight the night before surgery. No alcohol 24 hours before; no aspirin 2-3 days before. Start using prescription drops 2 days before.
After surgery;
Continue using the drops as directed for up to 4 weeks.
NO HEAVY LIFTING or STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES for about 2 weeks. The eye will take 3-4 months to completely heal, but the first couple of weeks are crucial.
The doctor will put 1 stitch in the eye. He put a dis-solvable stitch in my left eye, but it didn't dissolve, so when he did the right eye he just used a regular stitch and snipped it out after 1 week.
Best of luck, he'll be fine. His vision will be so much better, he'll wish he'd done it sooner!
