What are the main differences between a disease, a disorder, and a syndrome?

I was genuinely puzzled when someone called fibromyalgia and epilepsy diseases. When I was diagnosed with these conditions, I was told they were not diseases, but disorders; syndromes. Can someone please explain what constitutes an actual disease, as opposed to a disorder or syndrome?
