Can fibromyalgia be cured or alleviated by treatment for spinal myelopathy?

I have heard that someone may have found a link between spinal cord compression and fibromyalgia. Have you had your fibromyalgia cured or alleviated by having a spinal fusion, laminectomy or other type of surgical treatment?
I have heard a theory… (please excuse the oversimplification as I am not well versed in medical stuff) …that continuous pain and aggravation of the nerves (from something like stenosis)can cause your nervous system to be overstimulated or over react resulting in your body constantly telling your muscles to respond to injury by retreatiing and retracting from the painful stimuli, bracing the percieved painful injury and create more pain so that you will not be inclined to injure the area further. This would be a vicious circle of pain causing the pain response creating more pain and that results in further fatigue and pain.
Anything to this?
