Causes of leg and butt numbness with pain?

I have herniated disk in lower back and neck can this be causing the pain and numbness in lega and butt? I also have the same troubles with my arms and hands, the pain radiates all the way to my big toe, and left leg/calf and foot sleep almost daily, I have been this way 4 about 2 years after having 340 lbs fall on me, no-one is helping me except for prescribing flexeril and motrin, I am at my wits end with this I am only 43 and I walk with a cane almost daily because my gait (balance) is off. I am suffering from dizziness if I turn my head to the right of left now. so I do not drive and stay home all the time I have lost any quality of life I had and can not seem to find relief anywhere. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I am from the Lansing, MI area.
would like to add that I have had MRI's, EMG which the results stated that I now have neuropathy in my lower extremities due to the injury. I did go through PT and it did more damage pain wise and mobility. The trouble I am having seeking a doctor etc is the crappy insurance I have my physician says it is hard to find anyone to take it. all I have been told is I can receive injections and I will not have this done, I feel it masks the actual issues and what is causing it.

You have had numbness for 2 years now? Not good. Do I need to ask how 340 lbs fell on you? That is probably another question in another topic.

You need to go to a Surgeon with your records, MRI, and EMG if you have had one done. The EMG shows the nerve conduction between point A & B which verifies that the nerve is suffering compression. Tell the surgeon that you can't stand it any more and that repeat exact what you said here. "I am at my wits end with this I am only 43 and I walk with a cane almost daily because my gait (balance) is off. I am suffering from dizziness if I turn my head to the right of left now. so I do not drive and stay home all the time I have lost any quality of life I had and can not seem to find relief anywhere."

Motrin & Flexeril will not correct numbness and that is a serious condition that should have been addressed a long time ago! I went thru the same thing in '91 with a ruptured L5-S1 disc. The numbness started in my butt and progressed down my leg. By the time the surgeon got in there the disc material had scarred around the nerve, and to make a long story short…..16 yrs later…..those nerves still haunt me regularly.

So get yourself to another doctor NOW.

I know exactly what you are talking about. You have to work with the insurance. Don't take the doctor's word as gospel. Do you want some relief or not?

Get on your insurance's website and find a surgeon that accepts the insurance or call this 'crappy insurance' and demand that they give you the name of a surgeon that accepts it. There is an answer. Don't give up, you just have to work the system.
