Delay Onset Of Alzheimers Symptoms?

I have an elderly mother (86yrs) and I want to keep her from developing Alzheimer’s disease.  She’s pretty good normally but lately she seems more apt to lose concentration in the middle of expressing thoughts and seems more moody than usual.

What can I do or suggest to keep her from getting worse? What activities, foods or supplements should we consider? Any suggestions?

Alzheimers is a hard disease for people to cope with. Both for the patient and for the family.

My grandmother had some early symptoms. She would forget my name very easily and was often accusing me of things I had no idea about.

What we did was to start spending more time with her and got her active around the house. I got her a dog and play scrabble with her as often as possible. I renewed her newspaper subscription which had lapsed and got her interested in the crossword puzzle.

We take her to church with us every Sunday and try to get her to meet new folks there.

I even got her playing some video games on my computer when she visits.

So far, it seems to be working and she’s less paranoid these days at least.

Not sure how long it will keep her from getting too severe but for now it seems to help.

Found some helpful info on the web. The video game suggestion was particlularly helpful in our case….
