Coricidin D is safe to use in ppl with hypertension. It is over the counter, and there are a few different types. All of them are safe for ppl with HTN. This is a decongestant/antihistamine. As for a mucolytic, Mucinex or Humibid LA are appropriate as long as this has not been going on for more than a week, if she has persistant cough from smoking, asthma, or emphysema.
I would talk to a doctor if these do not work. It may be more than just a cold.
