QUESTION:
Can Hypoglycemia cause Epilepsy? I didn’t have Epilepsy until after I got hypoglycimia.?
ANSWER:
Hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar, can cause seizures, which are also a symptom of epilepsy. However, having hypoglycemia doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll develop epilepsy.
Seizures due to hypoglycemia are typically acute reactions to very low blood sugar levels. Meanwhile, epilepsy is a chronic condition characterized by recurrent seizures that are not caused by a specific trigger like low blood sugar.
It’s important to discuss your concerns with your healthcare provider who can help determine the cause of your seizures and appropriate treatment.
Hopes this helps.
