Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder OR ADD?

My mother just got a call from a clinic saying that my brother’s school wants him to be SEEN! I think they are going to try to diagnose him with ADD or ADHD. He does tend to talk too much and always has to be doing something to keep himself busy. My mother has worked with children with medical problems. One of the children that she cared for took some medication to calm him down because he was so hyperactive. We didn’t like the idea of him taking the medications. I don’t know how to explain it. It made us kind of sad because it was as if he were a whole different person when he had the medication in his system. I would like to know what people who have been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD think of the idea of taking medication. Does it help or are you against it?
