I’m curious: what are the differences between mere hyperactivity and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder?
When I and my younger half-sister were kids, there was talk about her having hyperactivity. I’m just curious if it’s really ADHD she has. Over the years, my sister has exhibited the following:
1.)Having temper tantrums at me over things not my fault, then three minutes later, acting like nothing happened, and she seems oblivious to the fact that I’m feeling angry and hurt.
2.)A very self-centered streak, like she’s lost in her own little world and can’t see things from another person’s point of view.
3.)Spreads malicious gossip about people right in front of the person she’s talking about.
4.) Does or says something hurtful to someone else, then when confronted about her behavior, seems bewildered and denies having done the hurtful deed (I’m not sure whether she really doesn’t remember doing the deed, or is she acting?).
Difference Between Hyperactivity And ADHD
Hyperactivity is just a part of ADHD. There are people who are hyperactive but they aren’t lacking in attention; they can focus on what they need to do. These people might be just too passionate and they’re anxious if they have a lot of idle time. Sometimes it’s better to consult a medical professional to identify if your sister truly has ADHD or ADD. There’s nothing to fear about the diagnosis, it’s better than you keep on guessing.
